Cricket legends David Warner and Steve Smith have solidified their commitment to Australian domestic cricket by signing substantial contracts with Sydney-based Big Bash League (BBL) franchises.
Smith, fresh off his title-winning campaign with the Washington Freedom in the Major League Cricket (MLC), has inked a three-year deal with the Sydney Sixers.
The prolific batsman, who previously represented the Sixers during his international break, will be a key asset to the team, although his availability for the early stages of the BBL season may be limited due to Australia’s upcoming Test series against India.
Meanwhile, Warner, who has recently retired from international cricket, has agreed to a two-year contract with the Sydney Thunder. The explosive opener, who has been a consistent performer in the BBL, will bring a wealth of experience to the Thunder squad.
