England Fast Bowler Freya Davies Retires from Cricket at 29 to Pursue Law Career
England fast bowler Freya Davies has announced her retirement from professional cricket at the age of 29, bringing down the curtains on a 15-year career to begin a new journey as a trainee solicitor.
A product of Sussex cricket, Davies made her international debut in 2019 against Sri Lanka in Colombo and went on to represent England until 2023. Over the course of her career, she earned 35 international caps, collecting 33 wickets across formats with a best of four-wicket haul.
A Remarkable Domestic and International Career
Domestically, Davies was a consistent performer. She played a vital role in Sussex’s County Championship title win in 2013 and was the leading wicket-taker in the 2019 Women’s Cricket Super League with 19 scalps. She also shone in The Hundred, claiming 36 wickets in 37 matches for London Spirit and Welsh Fire.
Her final outing came just last month in the One-Day Cup final for Hampshire, where she capped off her season with another 19 wickets, underlining her ability to deliver on the big stage right until the end of her career.
