Zimbabwe Cricket Test

ECB To Aid Zimbabwe With Financial Help For Touring England For One-Off Test Next Year

England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is set to make history by providing financial assistance to the Zimbabwe cricket team for their upcoming Test tour in 2025.

In a groundbreaking move, the ECB will pay a ‘tourist fee’ to Zimbabwe, a first-of-its-kind arrangement in international cricket. This decision comes as a welcome boost for Zimbabwe cricket, which has faced financial challenges in recent years.

The one-off Test match against England will mark Zimbabwe’s return to Test cricket in the country after a gap of 21 years. The last time they toured England was in 2003, where they suffered a 2-0 defeat.

ECB chief executive Richard Gould emphasized the need for a more equitable revenue-sharing model in cricket. He highlighted that while touring teams typically receive accommodation and other support, they don’t receive a financial fee. This new initiative aims to address this imbalance.

The ECB’s gesture is seen as a positive step towards supporting associate nations and promoting the growth of cricket globally.
